Bordeaux Perfection! This Reserve blend from an excellent vintage by an excellent producer is one sets the benchmark standard. Give it an hour to really excel, but the floral aroma is immediately wafting around the room and the luscious foamy blackberry is completely smooth and beautiful. I remain a HUGE fan.

Magical California Bordeaux! Absolutely perfect blend of floral bouquet and black cherry/blackberry aroma that was wonderfully smooth. Definitely not past its best at age 17.

Delightful! Just the right fruit balanced perfectly. Great floral aroma. Lucious blackberry dark cherry Bordeaux like magic. Mt Veeder mixed the magic elixir years ago.

worried that I waited too long but was wrong. Aged color but not yet bricking. A little barnyard on the nose. Still some tannnic structure but I think it is time to drink now to the next 2 years. Balanced red fruit flavors and integrated oak. Could use some complexity.

Drank even better than the last one. After a bit of decanting, it's just amazingly smooth. Tannins are so well integrated, you barely notice. Nose has a tons of fruit.

Open 2 hours. Dark ripe fruits, a hint of cedar on the nose. Good concentration, ripe fruits, a little port like, some bitter chocolate and bitter tannin on the palate. Drank well with grilled steak, but too simple and lacking zest or excitement. A little disappointing, especially for the vintage which is supposed to be great, but maybe it gets better with some aging. Doesn't seem to have the structure though. P.S., Well, the last glass, after 4 hours, was excellent. The wine came together and had a lovely texture. 89+

Decanted, then consumed over dinner. Garnet with looong legs. Cherry and tobacco with a hint of lead pencil in the nose. Cherry with underlying tree fruit, tobacco, spice, and barely perceptible tannins in the mouth after a moderate finish. Nicely mature and drinkable.

Slow O for 2 hrs, consumed over the following 3 hrs. This lovely blend continues to drink well, packing so much fruit into a seamlessly integrated package full of cool mountain fruit and lovely secondary aromas. In a really, really good place right now. Sorry it was my last one. Recommended, drink thru 2014.

Constellation and SWS Cabernet Dinner (Gibson's Steakhouse - Chicago): Dark big blackberry fruit, old used leather and cigar box. Some musty dusty attic aromas - Old World qualities. Really sleek palate - a mouth coating wine with a finish still with plenty of structure and backbone. Finishes with baking spice and cinnamon flavors.

Rib Roast and Napa Cabs (Our House, San Diego, CA): This is finally where it's supposed to be. Old world style wearing Napa fruit with bottle age. Amazing perfume and almost perfectly balanced. Definitely would have held its own with any great Bordeaux. Tannins were perfect.

Pop n pour. Dark ruby core with marginal bricking. A fresh nose full of red berries, cream, pipe tobacco and toffee. On the palate, a rich, yet balanced effort full of creamy berries, vanillin and perfumed violets. I've got one more left and will enjoy it within next 3 years. Approx $52, 14,1% abv. 4000 cs made. Recommended, but my $52+tax purchase price seems a little lofty right now.

This wine surprised me. Great fruit and structure -- but not completely integrated yet -- which was the surprising part. This wine is wonderful now, just make sure you decant it. I actually corked it back up the night I drank it and the next day it was fantastic. However, in a couple of years, this wine should be a hint better if the tannins round completely by then. No need to wait, though. This is a great bottle of wine right now.

open at the end of c point tasting with Dave. very tasty, fruit driven wine. nice blueberry fruit on the palate. but somewhat simple after '04 Caymus. lacking the structure of a top wine. did not get any of the tar flavor mentioned by napaj.

Not aging well at all. The Petit Verdot has not ripened but rather created a heavy medicinal and tar-like flavor that is not very pleasant. I have not had a Mount Veeder Reserve yet that has aged nicely 5+ years, but they drink very well upon release. My other bottle is going up for auction.

Bought the bottle after seeing a review of it at the local wine store and it lived up to the hype. Well worth the money spent. Took to a very nice resteraunt and had with lamb...
To start with... it had a great nose full of fruit and a hint of tabacco. It was a classic Bordeaux, very soft and elegant with tons of fruit. The legs running down the side of the class were very impressive, however the wine did not have too much tannins, just the correct amount. My girlfriend said she could taste the Malbec in the wine, however I could not. The finish was Extraordinaraly long and very, very balanced.
This wine was ready to drink now or proabably within a year. I am headed back to the wine shop and buying their last three bottles. Perhaps the second best wine I have had this year. Enjoy!
