Past prime but still quite enjoyable. Rounded tannins, smooth, dark berries, but not quite enough there with much of the fruit faded. Should have consumed a few years ago but part of a mini vertical that had outlasted the winery itself.

Balanced out after the years but still has a nice nose with plenty of wood flavors with the fruit in the background. Strawberry preserves on the nose sneaks in after opening up. Honestly to me it's got another few years left alas not for me as this is the last one...

“Heavy” nose of dark berry/fruit. Serious hit of cassis on the tongue—a touch “sweetish.” Tannin and acid are, very much, resolved making this a very easy wine to drink without solid food accompaniment. I like it.

Pop and pour here: Nice strawberry jam and soft rubber on the nose. Well structured body with integrated tannins and a touch of acidity. Dark chocolate covered cherries on the mid-palate and stewed fruit on the edge with toasted almonds on the finish. I'm happy to settle back with this baby tonight.

Wow! Wish I had more. 93% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Merlot. Decanted 2 hours. Opens on nose with blueberry , red cherry and raspberry. On the palate, black cherry, raspberry cinnamon and dark chocolate with a long peppery finish and velvety tannins.

Wow. Layers of flavors - still shows a bit of fruit characteristics, but the secondary flavors are starting to show - some earthiness and leather underlies the fruit. This was great - paired incredible with a grilled, bone-in new york strip. Wish I had more to try over the next couple of years.

Exceptional nose on this one and sadly my only and last 2005. This Oroppas was popped and poued through a Vinturi. The first thing you noticed was the floral or perfume notes from this Cab and Merlot combo with about 90+ percent being Cab. It went quickly and received positive reviews from everyone. Aromas of blueberry and cherry permeate the nose. On the palate, a hint of cinnamon with cherry, raspberry, caramel, and a touch of chocolate or mocha notes.
I always usually enjoy the Oroppas vintage to vintage and this was no different. The mountain fruit from Diamond, Howell and Mount Veeder really stand out. Highly recommended and can easily go a few more years. Sad that I did not purchase a few more.

Randomly selected a Cab for my B-day and to drink at Houstons and this came up. I was very happy with this wine- gave about 30-40 minutes of Air and was drinking good. I thought at $35 a good QPR and tasty. Good amount oak- not to much- but enough for me, good lively red fruits and some earth and spice. Not a wowing Napa Cab but very solid and good!

Better than expected. This reminded me of some WA wines in that it had bright, focused currant fruit with a lift from higher acidity than most Napa reds. Not as big or ripe as some, but that is what I appreciated about it. About a 35 second finish that only had nuances of oak present. A nice wine for the price I paid ($38).

Brought this to a small BBQ. Decanted for 90 minutes before fighting over pork spare ribs.
Very dark. Distinct coffee/mocha aromas along with berries. A fair amount of heat comes through as well.
A fantastic velvety texture carries along cherry/berry flavors. A nice complimentary flavor of earth/mineral also is present. This has a really nice strong mid-palate hit of kirsch and cherry. The finish wraps up rather quickly. Delish!

day one same as last tasting note. i only had half a glass out of this bottle night one because of the same tasting note, and the fact that i had already been a little over served. i was tempted to to take a peak night two but held off for night three. drank with a buddy out by the fire pit last night, and i must say that it had turned from an ugly duckling into a thing of beauty. loads of black fruit on the nose and palate followed by dark dark chocolate. my suggestion, open, decant, pour right back in the bottle and leave it be for three days...or just let it age another 5-7 years. i was dead wrong on this bottle, very well built and certainly has time on its side. The nose is typical CA Cabernet with Plum and some vanilla. The color is very dark and the palate suprises with some bell pepper laced with plum. The elegance of this wine says to drink now as the tannins are soft and the fruit is well integrated with some oak. The price creep is not fun as the '03 was a better wine but cost a lot less. Solid finish but not long.

91 (RP) Winemaker Comments: The Oroppas opens with enticing aromas of blueberry jam, red cherry, raspberry, milk chocalate, clove and brown sugar. Black cherry, raspberry jam, caramel, and dark chocalate flavors greet the palate, and the rich fruit flavors are supported by structured, yet velvety tannins. Black pepper, candied apple and dark chocalate linger on the palate for a long, complex finish

This has always been a great go-to Napa Cab. Consistently good with loads of that rich, dense, ripe black currant fruit, cedar, spice, and vanilla. The tannins are reasonably soft, adding texture, and not getting in the way of the rich fruit. Creme de cassis on the palate with more big black fruits. Well done, again!
