(SELBACH-OSTER Spatlese Graacher-Domprobst) Selbach-Oster Dear Friends, I nursed a bottle of this vibrant Riesling over the weekend and it is a simply gorgeous wine that needs to be opened and admired by our email list. Determined to keep a few bottles of the 2007 Graacher-Domprobst Spatlese to check on its ageing curve, I buried two bottles in the cellar (under my Bordeaux) in the hope that I would forget about them until 2020 or so. Try as I may to convince myself that they weren't there, that didn't last very long - both bottles are now empty and my gullet is to blame. My own inability to defer gratification aside, the overall quality of this wine is very high indeed. I tried to find a large enough parcel to satisfy what I hope to be enthusiastic thirst but Johannes doesn't make very much of the Domprobst Spatlese and in 2007 he only produced a few hundred cases. With that said, this wine is severally undervalued for the quality level and it deserves a special hiding place in your cellar. Compared to the majority of the world's $50-75 white wine, I am confident this lovely bottle of German wine provides far more intrigue and it should evolve into something magical: HIGHLY RECOMMENDED as a reminder that the world's finest wine doesn't have to cost a fortune ONE SHIPMENT ONLY at this terrific price (with impeccable provenance): 2007 Selbach-Oster Graacher Domprobst Riesling Spatlese Thank you, Jon Rimmerman Garagiste Seattle, WA Germ7434
(GRAACHER DOMPROBST Selbach) 2007 German Dear Friends, The Domprobst really struck gold in 2007 and the results have been among the highest rated (if not the highest rated) of the Selbach-Oster portfolio from most sources (whether Spatlese, Auslese or other). This site seems to have captured the essence of 2007 across the range with a shimmering quality at the higher pradikat levels not found at other estates (where Kabinett had the most success). This wine is closest in style to 2001, a vintage that changed the game forever in Germany. If you admire the dreamy style of 2001 but also yearn for the pungent minerality of 2007, this is a terrific example at a darn great price: ONE SHIPMENT ONLY at this price directly from the cellar (I can re-order but the price will be closer to $30). HIGHLY RECOMMENDED 2007 Selbach-Oster Riesling Spètlese Graacher Domprobst Thank you, Jon Rimmerman Garagiste Seattle, WA Germ6730
