  (Eyrie Pinot Gris) #1 (tie); COLOR-medium golden; NOSE-some nice apple; a little burnt tire; heavy petrol action (almost Riesling-like); a little cave action and a little burnt ash action as well; PALATE-great acidity; WOW; I love the acid; a little ginger and apple sauce mixed with seltzer water (acidity); great length; great finish; this brings the thunder; great apple flavors; great acidity; mouthfeel for days; not a wimpy wine -- almost a red wine lovers white; this is an out and out steal; WS-90; GV-90+

  (Eyrie Vineyards Pinot Gris, Willamette Valley) Clear and silvery, with a faint tinge of pink. Exotic notes of Honeycrisp apple, clementine, orange-flower water, spring honey, and mineral emerge on the nose. Pleasantly textural on the palate, the wine finishes with clean acidity and moderate length. A balanced New World Pinot Gris, with a little more than 13% alcohol, from America's first producer of this varietal. Hot Picks
