(Pegau Chateauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée de Capo) This was nice but I have a feeling this wine was closed down . . .or more. Great nose of dark kirsch, horsey barnyard and some brett. But there was also a stewed element that also showed on the palate. Great energy in the mouth with nice concentration and elegance. Especially for a wine this massive. Long fruit-soaking finish. After around 35 minutes this wine shut down very hard and was acrid on the finish and all the fruit was hidden in a cloak of tannins and acid. There was a distinctly roasted element that really started to strut too that was worrisome. Maybe closed . . . maybe a slightly off bottle . . who knows?4/10/2005, (See more on Rockss and Fruit...)
