(Hans Wirsching Julius-Echter-Berg Silvaner Spatlese Trocken) I am excited about this one as this was from an action wine purchase in Germany around five months ago. They finally came in. Aged Silvaner is a rare thing, especially from as great a sight as the Juius-Echter-Berg-, and a master of Silvaner, the Wirsching Estate. In all of its Bocksbeutel beauty i opened it and the cork was perfect. Nose was lemon, dill, youthful, minerals. Not giving much off the bat on the nose. The palate is amazing. Rich in texture yet very elegant with loads of fruit and heavenly balanced by its wonderful acid structure. Has the balance and purity of a great Riesling from Donnhoff or someone like that but till has that unique Franconian flavor profile. This is amazing wine. It is drinking great now but will last another 10 years as I had the '83 of this non-trocken, but fruity style, at the estate and it was still alive and singing, just as this is. This has an ethereal texture on the palate but is backed by power and concentration and a firm structure. World class wine. There is a lovely sweet/bitter/mineral component that just stays with you. Yes I sell this stuff but I would not have bought if I didn't believe it was great wine. I am glad it's here and ready to be tasted. Excited to see other's peoples notes on these.
