  (Moreau Chablis "Valmur") Wow this wine is tight right now. Might '02 Chablis' be closing down? Huge stank on the nose. Minerals, dry tree bark, horse, lime and crushed stones. Palate has major acids and an almost jagged mineral feel. The fruit was tight and clenched but very pure. Great oomph on the palate even at this closed stage. Would not touch for ten years at this point.

  (Christian Moreau Chablis "Valmur") Great stuff and maybe even surpassing the incredible Fevre "Preuses" I had recently as the top '02 Chablis I have had so far. I originally tasted this months ago and was very impressed. But tasting a wine versus hanging out with it for three days open are two entirely different things. Upon opening the nose was just pure airy minerals. Complex and light as a feather on the palate but with incredible precision and detail. So concentrated but not even close to being the least bit heavy. The oak then starts to show on the finish. The oak is definetly like a sign wave on this wine. Sometimes being present on the finish. . . other times on the nose . . . other times in the midpalate but never in two places at the same time. Forgot about it on day 2 but now am sipping it on day 3 and it is even more impressive. It has put on more weight and developed aromas of baby arugula, flint, wet stones and the slightest hint of vanilla. The acid is more present but is balanced by the sheer wealth of concentrated citrus and apple fruit. Long finish that never leaves your mouth. Stunning, Not a hint of oxidation on day 3 which leads me to believe that this will age for a very long time. I will not pop another for at least 10 years.

  (Christian Moreau Chablis Grand Cru "Valmur") Smells like the sea air after a rainstorm. Very lively acids lead to packed flavors of ripe apples and pears along a background of slatey minerals. Very Moselesque stuff. So long on the backend.
