Jim Young graduated from UC Davis with a BS in Viticulture in 1975 and has been in charge of the grape growing at his family’s Robert Young Vineyards for more than 30 years. In 2005 Jim worked with Kevin Warren, the winemaker for Robert Young Estate Winery, to produce the award winning first Sauvignon Blanc vintage for Kelley & Young. With the 2007 vintage he produced an award winning Sauvignon Blanc as well as an award winning Rose’. Because Jim was a viticulturist first and foremost, his wines highlight the grapes and the wonderful terroir of the Alexander Valley. His wines are fruit forward with long lasting finish and wonderful acidities which compliment the foods we love here in Sonoma County.
We specialize in high-end Bordeaux varietal wines including Cabernet Sauvignon from Beckstoffer's Georges III in Rutherford (Napa), Cabernet Sauvignon from the 45 year-old Montecillo Vineyard in the Mayacamas mountain range overlooking Sonoma Valley, a Malbec and a Petite Sirah from the tiny, yet spectacular appellation of Rockpile, and a Zinfandel from both Dry Creek Valley and Sonoma Valley.
