WINEMAKER NOTES:
UR 2001 VINTAGE CABERNET SAUVIGNON is a classic, reflecting a nearly perfect growing season.
The grape clusters were picked at optimal maturity, when the development of ripe flavors was at its peak.
Look to this wine for supple, firm tannins.
On the nose, the 2001 Stags' Leap Napa Valley CABERNET SAUVIGNON layers black fruit notes with aromas of cola, clove, coffee and black pepper.
Taste it, and the flavors of blackberry, black cherry, anise, black tea and dark chocolate are revealed.
Full bodied with an integrated tannin structure, this CABERNET SAUVIGNON offers hints of mineral which enhance the complex fruit through a long finish.
A SENSE OF PLACE - After aging the wine for two years in French oak barrels, Winemaker Robert Brittan blended in Cabernet Franc and a touch of Merlot. He fine-tuned this combination of varietals to create added complexity and mid-palate density, while showcasing the briar-berry character that is a signature of terroir expression here at Stags' Leap.
Varietal Profile: 93% Cabernet Sauvignon; 6% Cabernet Franc; 1% Merlot.
