Winemaker’s Notes

In cool growing seasons like 2006, our Evan’s Ranch Pinot Noir grapes ripen slowly and evenly, developing wonderfully concentrated flavors. The marine influence of the nearby Pacific Ocean magnifies this effect, allowing us to harvest our fruit at perfect ripeness.

The nose of our 2006 Limited Selection Pinot Noir displays enticing fresh raspberry, black cherry, plum, and blackberry fruit complemented by bewitching rose petal, sandalwood, tea-leaf, and brown spice scents. In the mouth, the wine is rich without being heavy; luscious without being syrupy; and firmly structured without being angular. It’s racy, spicy flavors have great length and sap, suggesting this varietally expressive Pinot Noir will profit from additional aging. Yet, it’s delicious now with rotisserie chicken, herb-marinated lamb, mushroom risotto and pesto pasta. Enjoy it over the next 3-5 years.
