Thomas Rivers Brown (winemakers) tasting notes: "Opening with notes of crushed blackberries, charcoal and white flowers, the aromatic attack doesn't wait for you to pour the wine; it begins as soon as you pull the cork. Highly perfumed and expressive, it captures all the greatness of this little stretch of Greenfield Road in Conn Valley. The 600 foot elevation and 15 degree slope peek through in the form of mid-palate grip but the tannin is so polished it doesn't stick out. Black and purple fruits come pouring through framed by sweet tobacco, cassis and blackcurrants. The seamlessness of the entire experience is what sets the wine apart. We are excited to be making wine in this emerging neighborhood. If this is what the second vintage tastes like, the future holds many more great wines."

From BPWine: I tasted a barrel sample of this wine a few years ago that blew me away. The winemaker was Thomas Rivers Brown, and the immaculate Three Twins vineyard is perched high on a sunny slope above Lake Hennessey (for those of you who are REALLY hyper-savvy, it is also the source of Mike Smith's sell-out-in-5- seconds MYRIAD Three Twins Cabernet). About 200 cases are made by Thomas and I cannot emphasize to you enough - BUY THIS. It is incredible - and it is super-rare. You cannot find it unless you are on the winery mailing list or from me (and I will sell out today). I have been waiting for YEARS to possibly have an opportunity to buy a little of this - and today is the day. Thank you Richard!! Check them out for more info at www.stonethecrowswine.com

If you have enjoyed the "new", "special" wines I've championed in the past, like CHECKERBOARD, MX, BISOU, and so many others in my long career of doing this, let me ask you - no, let me plead with you - let me emphasize as emphatically as I can - if you buy ONE Cabernet from me this year, buy this one. You will be BLOWN AWAY at it's quality, style and cool factor. You will find yourself calling me for more (but I will be sold out, trust me), showing the bottles off to your friends, and waiting with unbridled enthusiasm for the next release. You will.

My tasting notes - well, let me also add - I like to give a rough frame of reference. So, for example, this is more SLOAN than SCHRADER. It is more KAPCSANDY than BRYANT. It is more BOND than SCARECROW. This wine has tremendous depth and power, but a fair amount of it's tannin is liquefied, silk-ified, with just enough to give it some grip, in the way Sloan or Kapcsandy do it. Pure, singing cassis and blackberry pie, sweet herbs, cigar box, but not oaky - it's beautifully integrated now but will become even more of a rock star in 3-10 years!!
