The 2010 growing season was a bit cooler than normal throughout the summer, but as harvest approached, Mother Nature was in full cooperation. Grape yields were quite low, however, with low yields, came greater flavor development, concentration, and excellent structure to finished wines. Overall grape ripeness was achieved at much lower sugars in this vintage giving us wine with less alcohol and more elegance.

The 2010 vintage of Karl Lawrence Cabernet Sauvignon moves back to its origins of the very first Cabernets ever made. The majority of the grapes in this blend are from the Morisoli Vineyard in Rutherford and complemented with grapes from the Herb Lamb Vineyard just off of Howell Mountain. A small touch of Cabernet Sauvignon made from the Healy Vineyard rounds out the finished blend to the perfect style known as a Karl Lawrence Cabernet.

The 2010 Karl Lawrence Cabernet leaps forward with incredible and expressive Cabernet characters. It has rich, deep, and dense dark fruits of black cherry, black raspberry, and plum. The fruit aromas are laced with dusty, bittersweet cocoa powder and hints of black licorice and cedar. The flavors are plentiful and bold enough to match the generous aromas. This firm, well-structured Cabernet with lots of richness and complexity throughout the body and core, then give way to a long, lingering, delicious finish. Apparent, yet very well integrated fine tannins perfectly knit this Cabernet together and will support it for wonderful aging in the bottle. Time will only improve this 2010 Karl Lawrence Cabernet.

Blend percentages:
68% Gary Morisoli Vineyard - Rutherford Cabernet
22% Herb Lamb Vineyard- Almost Howell Mountain Cabernet
10% Healy Vineyard- St. Helena Cabernet
