The Wine.....
Deep and dark purple, dense and rich in the glass. Bonus Level’s aromas include black plum and dried cherry with a hint of smoked meats. On the palate you’ll find intense dried berries, dark unsweetened chocolate and a bit of dried thyme. Firm tannins, bracing acidity, brilliant structure and a long lingering finish complete the experience.

Bonus Level comes from Petite Sirah vines ranging in age from 4 to 20 years old. The fruit is sourced from Dry Creek Valley hillside vineyards where it has been cultivated for well over 100 years on each of the properties. The grape itself is best known for its influence as a blending grape especially for Zinfandel by adding color, spice, structure and tannin. In this instance it is stand-alone, keeping its’ best characteristics.

The 2014 Petite Sirah was harvested over the third and fourth weeks of September. A warm growing season concentrated the flavors and aromas while providing softer tannins. The result is a full-bodied and rich Petite Sirah with very good structure and balance.

Vinification included transferring the must to temperature-controlled fermentation tanks to cold soak for 24 hours and then was inoculated with Pasteur Red yeast. Pump-overs during the 7 day fermentation took place in order to extract color and flavor from the skins. The wine was aged for just under 12 months in American oak barrels with one third new oak blended with seasoned barrels.

Produced and bottled for Woot Cellars by Pedroncelli Winery.
