“85% Merlot & 15% C.S. hand-harvested from vines 5-20 yrs old grown estate vyds located in Monti in Chianti, a ‘micro-area’ of Gaiole in Chianti. This area, between 1,050 & 1,500 ft ASL, offers the ideal range for ripening grapes perfectly. Soils combine alberese (limestone) & galestro (schist) with clay.

“Fermented on indigenous yeasts in upright wooden fermentation tanks (Merlot for 20 days + 12 days of maceration, & CS for 21 days + 10 days of maceration). Aged 24 mos in barriques (70%) & tonneaux (30%) of Allier oak (26% 1st passage, 18% 2nd passage, 18% 3rd passage, & 38% 4th passage), then bottled unfiltered & aged an addt’l 15 mos. ≈15,000 bottles ave production.” [Info compiled from the 2 U.S. Importers I have listed.]
