Dark in the glass, this Zin has an incredibly pretty nose of plums, raspberry jam, licorice, and baking spices all backed up by a bit of black pepper. If you can actually stop smelling it long enough to take a sip, you'll find it dynamic on entry; balanced acidity meets tar, sweet tobacco, and cigar box intertwined with dark berries. The finish is strikingly lean and dry, carrying raspberry and leather alongside firm tannins.

Lot 725 is sourced from a pioneering, family-owned estate that’s one of the oldest not just in the RRV but all of Sonoma (with a storied winegrowing history dating back to pre-Prohibition). Produced by a winemaker with top pedigree and over a decade of experience in both the Dry Creek and Russian River Valleys, the wine is aged for over a year in oak and is showing marvelously already.
Absolutely gorgeous nose, bold yet quaffable, under-$20 pricing from an elite appellation…what’s not to love? This is first class Zinfandel at an outstanding quality for price.
