Winery Note:

2006 Russian River Valley Zinfandel - Pietro's Ranch

Our third Pietro's Ranch and sadly, the last. Yes, this was another Feeney property sold as part of a package deal in December 2006. In April 2007, this Grande Dame of the Russian River Valley, this vineyard planted in 1905 by Italo Barbieri for his brother Pietro, immigrants from Agnino, Tuscany, was replanted to more "fashionable" varieties. Producing what is arguably our finest zinfandel to date, the loss of this vineyard continues to break my heart.

Dark ruby-purple. Nearly opaque. An absolutely intoxicating nose of black raspberry, briar, and herbs. Fabulous! The wine enters full and rich but acidity and tannins are in perfect balance. As seamless a zinfandel as we have ever produced. Enjoy this bit of history from release through 2013.
