Showing so much better than one I opened with friends five years ago. If a wine can be viscous, yet fresh, this is it. Super unctuous and sweet, with apricot and orange marmalade, quince paste and spiced baked apple flavors and aromas, the acid levels keep everything in check. In fact, there's really good focus here due to the fact that there were more passerillage grapes that vintage, in comparison to the more botrytis dominated '95 and '97 vintage. A gorgeous showing with plenty of life left and leads me to believe my last bottle suffered from cork failure. Solid A

Deeply bronzed in color at this point. Quite sweet, but showing plenty of acid backbone that keeps the wine in perfect balance. Apricot, apple and earl grey tea aromas and flavors with a distinct botrytis character. Great length with a lip-smacking finish. Mature, but with decades of life left. Terrific wine! A.

Still showing a nice core of black fruit with a touch of herbs and dried leaves in the mix, but it's showing its age and is a bit austere and drying on the finish. Pleasurable and food made it better by taming some of the tannins, but time to drink up. B+/B

3/3/2013 1:19:00 AM - Hi Paul-
I went back and checked my pics from the evening and somehow the bottle eluded the camera's eye, unfortunately. I'll check to see if Christine still has the bottle as a trophy, but she recently moved and I think she may have thrown away all her trophy bottles rather than schlep them to her new place.
The meal was indeed fantastic. We're spoiled with Christine's cooking.

I was wondering if you might have a pic of this wine: 1990 Pol Roger Champagne 2000 Selection Brut.
I'm trying to authenticate a similar bottle.
That meal looks great, btw.
