This was decanted and drank over about five hours - before, during and after dinner. It never really found its place, always awkward. The fruit is on the decline and getting a little stewed, and there's this pervasive astringency throughout the profile with pronounced acidity on the finish . There's no need to repeat what has been stated in previous reviews of this wine, it apparently fell of a cliff in late 2008. It was a hot year in Oregon and it is interesting to consider that this is sometimes what happens to pinot made from grapes grown in a hot year, and why some folks say drink these while they're young. It was a really great experience and I learned a lot by opening it - I've got one more bottle in the cellar which should probably be enjoyed soon.

Popped and poured - did not decant. Cork was in perfect shape. Amazing color - no sign of bricking. Intense nose - earth, cigar box, eucalyptus and dark fruit like currant. Nicely integrated tannins on the palate - a little tight at first but opened up quickly. More earth, tobacco and eucalyptus on the palate - still nice dark fruit as well. Finish is medium to short with decent acidity. This should be great with the pork roast I am serving with it. I've been waiting to open this for a long time - apparently worth the wait. This is arguably the best wine I've had so far this year. Looking forward to drinking my sole bottle of '91 in a few years.
