At first pour, odd aromas and very earthy, nearly poopy notes, with a hint of light red fruit. On the palate, it was super light, and, frankly, there was no there there. Undrinkable.

Popped and poured, this had very primary juicy dark and earthy fruit, but almost nothing behind it. There's no there there, which is a surprise. As someone who buys this on a regular basis, I was expecting more, especially from a full-bodied vintage like 2015. It almost felt out of balance, as if the grapes were ripe but not phenologically so. Maybe they picked early to avoid any excessive ripeness, but frankly we barely drank half the bottle before dumping it down the drain. Which is a shame, as we love Beaujolais and this producer.

Finally tasted this last night, because apparently I hate my palate and it needs to be punished. People pay $475+ for this crap?
On the nose, it did smell like a very bright if slightly ripe Bordeaux, with sweet dark currants and cassis dancing with earthy notes and intermingled with sweet oak, so I did have some hopes for balance and pleasure. But alas, then I put it in my mouth, and the world came crashing down around me and my palate. Overly sweet oak slathered with sweet blueberry jam awash in pure alcohol whacked my tongue, clinging to the insides of my mouth to punish it for even trying this. Sadly, the finish was extremely long, and multiple glasses of water couldn't rid me of this foul stench.
OK, I might be exaggerating a bit as I'm an admitted Burghead, but still I was hoping for more, especially when one considers how much this normally costs.
