Dark purple color. Warm, alcoholic nose with black plum and rhubarb. Also, hints of caramel and sweet oak. The taste starts with dark plum and moves to brighter red fruits like cherry. Caramel and oak come in the mid to late to the pallet. Good finish. Well balanced with tannins that are a bit tough but stand up to the big fruit and acidity. Finish is a tad hot.

Methuselahs Blind tasting - June 2006: Golden yellow. Rich floral nose, sweet of course but more herbaceous than I expected. Less fruit than most young sweet wines with a few interesting herb and floral flavors but nothing to stand up to the sugar and stop it from becoming cloying. Really lacked acidity. This didn’t quite fall apart, but was definitely flabby.

Methuselahs Blind tasting - June 2006: Dark purple with a faint rim. A blast of alcohol on the nose that masks black fruits and spice. Alcohol faded after a bit and the nose opened up to reveal rich blackberry and pepper. A surprising amount of acidity really stood up to the rich fruit and alcohol on the pallet. A bit of current and bramble-berries that lead to a long spicy finish.
