Brickish color. Some vegetal stink on the nose which (mostly) blew off with vigorous decanting, leaving a lightly spicy, black tea and minty nose, then an acidic, raisiny palate with some alcohol burn. Seemingly over mature and falling to bits. Time to wind back my cellaring expectations for this cuvée and get into the other older vintages in the cellar!

A bouquet to enjoy, full of interest. Aromas of dusty ground, spice and anise, dried red fruits and flowers, white pepper. Palate gentle but lively. Cote Rotie like with its suppleness and the sweet echo of its fruit.

12/19/2020 11:00:00 PM - Hello Tim, thanks for your message. Yes there have been some nice wines but I have not excelled at writing them up, so did one tonight after your prompt.
Sadly in these Covid days there is no travel, but in a way the cellar is a form of (wine) travel!
Regards,
Shanta
11/1/2020 7:50:00 PM - hello, Shanta
have you had anything interesting, exciting or both, lately?
Please ring me if you'll be in Colorado's Rocky Mountains and/ or Italy; would be a delight, I'm certain.
5/7/2017 6:05:00 AM - I noticed your note about the 2005 Prince Florent de Merode Cohrton-Maréchaudes; I'm not certain your experience with the wine would be any different than mine at this stage...but I've often heard others with far more experience than I, say that Corton Grand Crus are enjoyable for the first 1-2 years after release...and then they need a minimum of 30-40 years to show their complexity. Earlier last year, I was fortunate to taste a bottle of this wine from the 1964 vintage over a period of about 3+ hours. If you have any more of this wine...you may want to wait another 25+ years before cracking your next bottle. Respectfully, Kirk R. Grant

A second bottle following yesterday’s review. A cleaner, richer but still degraded bottle.
