10/1/2022 6:52:00 AM - Thank you wmccone54 for noticing my erroneous selection of the Frank Family Chardonnay with respect to my tasting note of 9/15. While you correctly discerned that my tasting note could not have possibly related to a chardonnay, and must have been a red, I now have to figure out what the heck I was drinking. Cheers!

12/18/2015 9:03:00 PM - very well thought out reviews of wines which have little to no apperance of influence from well known critics. Are you involved in the wine trade? Your insights are spot on imho.

2/15/2012 2:14:00 PM - Hey, relative to your note on wines similar to Cakebread that deliver better value, here are a few that I have purchased and drank recently: 2005 Heitz Cabernet Napa: $37 bought at an Austin retailer; 2006 Luna Cabernet Howell Mountain: $48 purchased from Wine Access; 2005 Saddleback Cabernet Napa: $35 purchased from Lot 18; 2005 Lang & Reed Right Bank Napa: $41 purchased from Lot 18; 2006 Levendi Cabernet Stagecoach Vineyard: $43 purchased from Wine Access; 2005 Rutherford Grove Cabernet Napa: $43 purchased from Wine Access; 2007 Stag's Leap Cellars Artemis: $41 purchased from an Austin retailer; 2007 Robert Sinskey POV: $47 purchased from an Austin retailer. Not sure what state you reside in? If you can buy wine over the internet and have it shipped to your home or business, there are a lot of good deals that can normally beat most local retailers. I use Lot 18 and Wine Access as both act as discount middlemen for CA wineries and can ship to Texas. Lot 18 is "by invitation only", so if you need an invitation, please send me your e-mail and I will invite you. Cakebread is good, don't get me wrong, and you can't mess up at a restaurant by buying it. It retails here in Austin for $60 "on sale". Because of it's poularity, most internet retailers won't sell it for under $50 and it usuallly goes for between $50 and $60. Let me know if I can help you. Regards, Gerry

2/13/2012 5:23:00 PM - Hi... saw your note on the Cakebread and was intrigued by your mention that there are others the deliver at better price to value quotient. Just getting started with about 50 bottles but want to get bigger. Am in to value wines, but would like to hear ur thoughts on under $50 bottles
