  • 2022 François Pinon Vouvray Sec

I recently bought this in Paris and it is my first experience. with these wines
12.5 alc, nice cork and initially decanted for about 30 min in a narrow carafe. Drank over three days

robe - a nice light straw yellow. I was actually expecting this to be a bit deeper in tone but no worries
nose - at first, it was hesitating to come out and on day, it is still not expanding much. there are notes of lemon peel, some floral notes but not really giving up too much at the moment
palate - off the bat, this is really quite nice. it has good length with bright acidity but no razor sharp. The palate is very much in a primary stage with some notes of star fruit, lemon, maybe even some grapefruit. This also has nice touches of of beach stone / minerlak flecks.
Over all, really nice and at 15. euros bargain deal!! I am going to buy a few more of these and drink them over the next 3 to 5 years. Once this opens a little more with bottle age, this will be really nice. FOr fans of chenin in the Loire, this is a great time for the $ Huet is surely creeping up in price, these wines I feel are taking over that catagory
I want to taste more of these wines
    good times

  • 2008 Faiveley Nuits St. Georges Les Argillats

    half bottle
    stored correctly
    nice cork

I have no formal notes on this wine, I did however drink all of it over two days

The robe was slightly alarming by it's transparency - it resembled some light cranberry juice. I know that Pinot from here is not supposed to be dark at all BUT this did seem a bit light. not showing a ton of age - no browning , slight bricking

the nose was delightful with wild blue fruits, sappy pinot, a bit of forest floor. bref - the nose that we love from good Burgundy

the palate was on the lighter side - very delicate and poised. Well balanced and not filled with greeness or overly acidic. quite nice but slightly frail

Surely do not hang onto this wine. Enjoy it now with a friend. I would say, open it , sit at the table and talk to each other, listen to the wine and see what it has to say in it's later days

    a very emotional wine

  • 2021 François Villard St. Joseph Mairlant Blanc

    drank over dinner.
    no formal notes

    really nice light straw color
the nose was a bit restrained but opened up in the glass
notes of little orchard fruit but leaning towards pears

in the glass, this really picked up
there is a little note of minimality . it does lack the tension that profound depth that better vintages have
this is a fun bottle to be enjoyed over the next 3 years
older bottles like the '14 are really nice right now, i just think that the '21 is just missing the stuffing that great vintages have.
    good times
missing a little acidity but the minerality makes up for it.
    surely was enjoyed
