1/30/2020 10:46:00 AM - Hi Motz. Yes, Kerry and I were married last June at the Petrolo winery/estate. The ceremony took place atop the Galatrona tower. It took a lot of work to set up, but was well worth it. Hope all is well with you and your family. Cheers!

3/1/2019 5:36:00 AM - I came across one of your comments, and you seem like someone to ask this question: I am travelling to Bordeaux this summer, and wondering if you have any suggestions for a smaller, "off of the tourist trail" winery or chateau.

  • Vinomazing says:

12/26/2018 5:06:00 PM - Glad to be a fan and reap your wine expertise this year. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year Motz!

  • mikita77 says:

6/5/2018 12:15:00 AM - Thanks for checking it out. Yeah, I'm a bit of a snob. But I'm known to invite less expensive bottles to my table as well.

12/2/2017 6:44:00 AM - No Motz I don't live in Macau. I have friends who live in Macau, France. This is in the Medoc, thus my nickname as my favorite wines come from here.

4/17/2017 9:07:00 AM - Motz, I responded to the '13 Duckhorn review via email. Please check when you can.

3/30/2016 10:54:00 AM - I have not participated in the CT forum yet, but I would like to. I will sign up soon.

3/29/2016 9:55:00 PM - Clos du Val 2013 Napa Cabernet does not look too controversial at this time with 86 CellarTracker reviewers averaging 90.6 points:

2/20/2016 4:50:00 PM - Ok's your turn to weigh in on the controversial '13 Clos du Val Cabernet. Please put it on your radar!

  • Wiltse says:

1/31/2016 6:21:00 AM - Motz: Yes, I am in Missoula, and, yes, let's share a bottle together. You can find my email on the UM website.

11/14/2015 10:11:00 AM - Hi, Motz! Thank you for the note regarding Barolo! Do you have any recommendations for restaurants in the area that you think are must visits? Cheers!

  • San Diego Dago says:

8/1/2015 1:33:00 PM - Hi, Motz! Just read your notes on Cooper. Since Neal Cooper doesn't reach out for "professional" reviews, your insight is much appreciated. 2012 is going to be his final WW cab; looks like he is going out with bang.

  • Johnfromspokane says:

3/12/2015 6:34:00 PM - Is it safe to assume you're doing a little celebrating on your end with all these high end bottles lately?

  • ntanik says:

1/11/2015 3:38:00 AM - Thank you and i wish many happy 'wine' moments.

  • Grinner says:

5/30/2014 5:12:00 PM - You have good eyes then! Those were all '96's tasted in 2006. Mostly Bordeaux, some Cal Cabs, and I see a Turley something or other ringer in there... Cheers! Mark

  • Grinner says:

5/30/2014 3:22:00 PM - Thanks, but which tasting are you looking at? We do a massive annual tasting of 10 yr old wines on the first Sunday of November and smaller tastings 6 times a year. The '04's we'll taste this fall will be Aussie shiraz and CdP's. A typical smaller tasting: this Saturday's 2012 Oregon Pinot tasting... Mark/ Grinner

  • tantotinto says:

5/10/2014 3:44:00 AM - Yes, my user name is a result of my affection for red wine. The inspiration for it was Bebel Gilberto's song Tanto Tempo. My wife keeps me balanced though through her preference for white wine.

4/5/2014 2:16:00 PM - Thank you for your note on my comments about the 2009 Bernadotte. I hope you are able to make the transition to a Professor of History. I currently teach at a school of pubic health and have done so for over 30 years. I have enjoyed the university, even as I get ready for retirement.

2/24/2014 10:08:00 AM - Hey Motz, I do not think JB Neufeld has released their 2011 wines yet. Should be March, you might shoot an e-mail to the winery to see about release date and distribution. I was able to buy some direct from Justin last Oct pre release at a harvest tasting event in Yakima.

12/4/2013 4:32:00 PM - Not sure what you are driving at on your comment on my post about the Zestos Garnacha. "Confected fruitiness"? No, I am not looking for sweet and fruity. You thought this was a great value, I found it to be a poor value. I doubt that I will cook with what I have left. But that is the beauty of wine - we all have our tastes. You would probably see from my reviews that sweet is not in my arsenal of likes. You are a prolific reviewer - good for you. I post about one out of every 20 bottles that I consume. If I think of it, I pop it on here. Enjoy!

11/13/2013 10:05:00 AM - The 90 Beau was indeed special, one of the rare moments when a wine makes me feel spiritual.

  • Bam_Man says:

10/27/2013 9:21:00 AM - Hey Motz- Nope, have never come across that particular wine before. And yeah, there is definitely great Sangiovese to be had from both Emilia-Romagna and Umbria, but most people never go beyond Tuscany.

10/12/2013 9:32:00 AM - Thanks for the comment Motz. I really enjoyed your note on the '09 Clio and appreciate your friend request. It's nice to see what fellow CT'ers keep in invenotry

  • ChrisinCowiche says:

9/22/2013 6:10:00 AM - Hey, Motz, Re 2009 JB Neufeld, I think they are both very structured wines, and the Artz will come around to match the DuBrul, just ton release I found t he DuBrul more approachalbe of the two. I think these wines are more reserved than many WA Cabs and will take 5 + years to show true potential. I haven;t touched an 09 for quite a while, so don;t have any impressions that are too current. I did really go long on the JBN '10 blended Cab.

  • Bam_Man says:

8/10/2013 9:52:00 AM - Hey Motz, Tough call on the 2006 Castello di Brolio. Haven't tried any of mine yet - just finished up the last of my 2001's recently. $55 is a lot of coin for Chianti no matter how great. But if you are really into Chianti (like me), why not grab a couple then. I'm sure it is the same style as the 2001 - very modern and "meaty". I actually prefer the "old school" stuff like the Castello di Bossi Berardo. And it costs about half as much. Cheers!

7/25/2013 9:22:00 AM - Hi Motz, Thanks for your note! We loved Yakima and thanks to ChrisinSunnyside's help with our tour -we were fortunate to have an insiders take on some of the best tasting rooms. We met amazing people with wine to match. Your notes are nicely written & I look forward to reading more. Perhaps we will meet up for an offline one day. Best Regards!

11/29/2012 2:06:00 AM - Hi Motz. Read your post on my message board. I too had avoided the CT beta until forced to move to it on November 26. Feel free to keep in touch and chat. I am not really a fan of social networking so I do much prefer email over public message boards. I am not sure if CT has a means of private conversations yet.
