1/20/2024 2:26:00 PM - Greetings from your neighbor to the north - wait a minute... south. Great collection of notes. Thanks for the heads up on the '05 Montrose - I'll try to be patient.

5/23/2023 6:24:00 PM - Love the Walter Hansel Cuvee Alyce. Especially older vintages, and a great buy

11/11/2021 7:37:00 AM - Lived in Anchorage 1990 to 1998 and still come up when I can. Wondering how you manage access to so many wines as it was a challenge when I was up there. I too am long time wine lover with an extensive cellar here in Philly suburbs. Interested in all sorts of wines and open-minded like you but if had to pick would also pick Rhone at least for reds and Viognier my favorite white. Cheers.

12/30/2020 4:00:00 PM - Hello Sir! Don't mean to contact you out of the blue, but I am new to cellaring wine, just doing some research now (by which I of course mean drinking and reading :) while I figure out what I may wish to cellar once I get going. My question for you is, being a fellow Alaskan, how do you manage temperature and humidity for your cellar? Are you using mostly humidity control wine fridges, or have you cultivated a cellar environment using humidifiers, thermostats, etc. ??

12/12/2020 3:15:00 PM - Thanks dSimmons...appreciate you becoming a fan. I see you too enjoy QC wines...I must say I think they're great too. One of the better producers I've been buying over the last few years. really enjoy their style. I too am a Rhone fan as well...mostly Paso Robles since it's so easy for me to get to and spend some time. Cheers!

12/6/2020 9:38:00 AM - Thanks for becoming a fan. I noticed that you are a big fan of Q-Creek. While I haven't enjoyed any yet, I do have about 12 assorted bottles in the cellar - going back to 2007. I'm reassured that these wines can hold for 15+ years (based on your TNs) and look forward to start drinking the '07s and '08s in the next year or so. Was wondering whether your experience with these wines was better when you decanted (as many other TNs seem to indicate - as much as 2 to 5 hours), or just PnP? Also, I appreciate that you give some info in your TNs, rather than just blank. The more info that each of us gives, the better the opportunity that others will be able to enjoy the fruits of their cellars. Thanks. (Good photo - great shirt!)

3/6/2019 1:02:00 PM - Thanks for the follow, I'll follow back. Like minded users here have become my main source of buying research as well (that and friends in and out of the business).

1/13/2019 6:28:00 PM - Cheers from another passive cellar owner! This is a good year to be buying Rhone wine. Such a pity that you're trying to reduce your wine collection, impressive as it is, but undoubtedly it will be an enjoyable endeavor. I found it impossible to resist the 2016 futures this year.

1/6/2019 6:50:00 PM - Wow, no. 207, a really early adopter. I am impressed that you were impressed enough with my notes to become a fan. Grazie Mille.

1/10/2018 4:22:00 PM - Hi there! Nice to connect with you. I am also a fan of Rhone (especially Northern) wines, though my fave right now is probably Burgundy. Never been to Anchorage but I imagine it to be a beautiful place!

7/31/2017 12:02:00 PM - Thanks for becoming a fan. I've been told that I have too many bottles from Carlisle. Judging by your vast collection of Carlisles, I don't need to worry about getting that criticism from you.

4/24/2017 9:30:00 PM - Thanks for becoming a fan. After looking at your great cellar I am not sure I earn that honor. You have a great collection of WA wines which I also love collecting as well as the Carlisle group of which I fell the Papera Ranch Zin to be the best Zin I have yet had. I will be looking for your future notes. Cheers.

4/18/2016 6:33:00 PM - Thanks for becoming a fan. It is nice to have someone with such a great cellar following along. All that wine but so little time--I too have to manage down my cellar!

  • aChave says:

4/6/2016 12:15:00 AM - Hi, fellow far-Northwesterner... I see a number of shared wines, but also interesting differences (e.g. your S Rhone vs my N Rhone). Cheers!

  • vintage1949 says:

9/23/2015 8:47:00 PM - Greetings, Thanks for the information. Funny how wine can even taste different just because of the environment. You swear you are drinking one of the best reds ever at a winery-buy a couple bottles-back home-just average.

  • SORC says:

7/14/2015 12:15:00 PM - Hello DSimmons !! I would love to chat with you about some of your wines. You have a great cellar. gpilot@me.com. Thanks...sorc.

4/21/2014 10:31:00 AM - well, I try to pair wine and food. In many case the wine leads. Beside monthly wine-tasting events which I organise, I also lead my wine-lovers in wine-tours in Europe. Quite familiar with the top wineries in all regions mentioned before. Any plans for Europe?

  • Yagil says:

4/21/2014 9:50:00 AM - Hello! thank you for becoming a fan! Warm regards from the Hollyland... Though my favourite are old-world wines (mainly Bordeaux, Burgundy, Rhone-Valley, Piedmont, Tuscany, Rioja, Ribera-del-Duero, Priorat) - I also love North&South America wines, SA & Aussies. And there are good wines also from Israel, Austria, Germany and more. I do visit European wine regions quite often. What are you investing in?

Wife was born in Yokohama, never frose her feet off on skates... Enjoying your endeavour. Have always dreamt of Anchorage. Hope to go there within the next few years. Hopeful we can arrange an off-line with herrings and bear :-)
