Popped and poured. Just as profound as the last time I had this in 2021. Very complex, ripe and long. Still sweet yet the tannins have melted away. A silky smooth crowd pleasing Pauillac that will easily hold until 2030 if not longer. A bargain at the time costing $55 CAD. Another one of those wines you wished you owned more. One of the better 1996's.

Decanted 1 hour, dark colored, notes of chalk, crushed stones, peppers, blackberries emerge from this medium bodied wine that ends on a hot and austere finish. I’m not sure if time will resolve the harshness. A disappointment considering it’s $26CAD price tag. Drink now.

Popped and poured, classic Margaux softness in a St-Julien where tannins have completed melted akin to silk. Deep colored no bricking yet on the light to medium body style. Evolved notes of tobacco, earth and some berries with a decent finish. Not the most profound. At peak where it should be enjoyed by 2030. Well made for the price at the time.
