Still rather closed -- good fruits -- strawberries and dark fruits with a slight jam edge, but plenty more time needed. Cellared since original release.

7/7/2018 12:46:00 AM - CFK, Re 1989 Domaine Robert Chevillon Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru.The labels were very tattered but the person providing the wine says they do not designate a specific 1er Cru vineyard. Could well be some of the smaller vineyards aggregated together, or young vines from multiple 1er Crus. I do not know for certain.
4/20/2016 10:06:00 PM - I have been visiting Roumier every year for 25 years or so and have discussed this with him. It was only in late 1980s that he began to assemble the vines from the two different soils (of course, 1988, there were two different bottlings based on vine age), but before that, they were separate (he still vinifies them separately and I have on occasion tasted the yet-to-be-assembled parts). In the old days (which included the 1983) when he didn't assemble, Chateau & Estates got the terres rouges, the rest of the world got the terres blanches.
4/20/2016 9:48:00 PM - cfk49 - Re your message on Roumier 1983 Bonnes Mares. What makes you think that US vs European Bonnes Mares are from different plots? I am fairly certain there is a single assemblage, except in the 1 or 2 vintages in which Christophe produced the Vieilles Vignes cuvee.
3/23/2014 7:19:00 PM - Thank you very much for the note on the GPL - sincerely appreciate the courtesy heads up. I am generally a realist(/pessimist) but, when it comes to precious bottles, seems I am a hopeful dreamer! I will always try to believe that a tainted bottle is barely afflicted. Sadly, as you taste more old bottles, you grow more accustomed to encountering TCA. I'm learning! Often, the hard way :( I hope all the rest of yours are fabulous!

The wine needs substantial time to open fully, but when it does, it is silky with classic tar and red cherries. Cellared since original release.

Not as thrilling as the bottle back in 2020. This wine has minerality and depth, but seems rather closed. Cellared since original release.
