Crushed camomille and wet rocks with a lovely peach and lemon core, this is elegant, but with depth and character. Has a bit of an Italian feel and was delicious with vitello tonnato.

Definitely young, but rather approachable. Fairly textbook Pauillac, there was both depth and intensity as well as more softness than you'd might expect. Very good.

This was the best bottle I've had despite not fully decanting. Everything was just a bit higher toned and more defined. Beautiful cherry fruit, leather, and subtle floral notes. It actually felt a bit Barolo like but the effervescence of the herbs and darker qualities just edged it into Sangiovese territory. Delightfully medium bodied, this is in a nice place structurally and was perfect with a venison ragu.

12/23/2022 5:01:00 AM - Hey depechemoroder! Welcome to NC! The Wine Authorities shops in Durham & Raleigh are great when you want to get away from the mass market box stores. Vivace in North Hills has the best Italian Wine selection around (good food too). Vita Vitae is also a good wine bar, nice selection of old and new world. Jolie has a great French wine selection from the not so famous regions, Margeaux's for the famous French regions. Lot's of good stuff around for sure, enjoy your stay!

My view is that this particular vintage will show at its best in its fruit driven (relative) youth as that fruit may not have the power to remain in balance with the strappy, bready etc. complexities this wine picks up with extended age.
I will be drinking my remaining bottle over the next year or two - but am happy to hold my 1999 for instance.
