This was an enjoyable wine, and a crowd-pleaser for sure. However, the KH took a real turn this vintage from the consistent quality I’ve come to appreciate in past vintages (even in 2011). I thought this was overly extracted (even for Hall’s standards), super sweet and fruity (like Smucker’s grape jelly), and lacking nuance. The alcohol was noticeably high. There really wasn’t much else to it. It reminded me a bit of the 2014 Shoo Fly I have on my “whatever” rack.

Shooting myself in the foot for opening this now. First day was muted and shut down. Day two opened up beautifully to elegant blackberries, slight vanilla, and cinnamon. This has potential to hit 96-97 in the next few years.

Popped and poured at a restaurant. Muted upon first pour and opened/closed throughout the evening. Smooth, high quality berries when wine opened up. Decant at least 2-3 hours.
