Medium golden color, has a lovely nose of crushed fruit, touch of red apple; nice medium intensity on the palate, has the typical touch of Alpine “honey”, not in a sweet way, but in its richness. If only there was a bit more salinity, but that’s not a trait I find as much in the Rhys Chards.

Moderately golden color, light on the nose with some hints of savory fruit; don’t remember if I had this closer to release, now it’s rounded out a bit from what was surely a more austere, steely profile, medium depth, starts out slowly, then the intensity builds slightly before turning more mineral, but with a nice dash of more lush fruit. Still a rock head wine, though softened considerably, and drinking beautifully at almost 20 years.

Fairly amount of golden copper color, nose is somewhat tame, no obvious petrol, more along the lines of rose petal, quite attractive but hard to describe; the palate is richly flavored, with some viscosity and weight, some light umami savory, has a sense of sweetness from bottle age, very nicely balanced. A delicious, lightly complex wine at or maybe past its peak, lush and voluptuous.
