  • 2012 Château Aney

Nose - brett, dark cherry and rasberry, leather, and pencil shaving.

Palate - Fruit is still pretty vibrant but has a slightly dried quality to it. Tannins still present with a bit of grip. Tobacco and some slight earthiness are present.

    Moderate finish.

Overall this is quite enjoyable, it is in a really good place right now.

  • 2006 Paolo Bea Umbria San Valentino

From memory, a delicious wine. Nice red fruits showing as well as earth, mushrooms, and herbs. Nice acidity, medium bodied and some pretty prominent tannins. This wine screams for food. Love it.

  • 2002 Montevertine Toscana IGT

This is from memory. I had a bottle a few months ago. Bad vintages = deals on good producers. Montevertine threw out 40% of their fruit in this vintage and combined fruit from their best plots the make this wine. Yes, that includes fruit from their vines that produce their flagship wine "Le Pergole Torte", which was not produced this year. This wine is no heavy weight for sure, but it is very elegant and is beginning to show really well with secondary characteristics coming through. Good acidity and the tannins are resolving.
