Franck Pascal's "Quinte Essence" from 2009. 82% Pinot Noir, 9% Meunier, and 9% Chardonnay, 0.1g dosage per liter and a minimum of 96 months on the fine lees. These are the key data of this one, of 3,900 bottles, biodynamically produced exception of Champagne. And frankly, it's pretty awesome. The nose reveals intense and fragrant aromas of ripe yellow fruit and dried fruit, including peach and walnut, notes of yellow flowers, and light spicy hints that then transition to mineral and brioche notes. The palate is incredibly complex and layered with a pleasant freshness and minerality. A generous Champagne, suitable both as an aperitif and, thanks to its complexity, a perfect food companion. champagne.zuerich

At the very beginning, there was fruit. But already in the glass, the wine dried out. Boil-dry, somewhat green, it just does not give much. Still strongly astringent. Apparently, I'm not the only one with the experience. Am not sure if the wine survives, respectively, he gets better. I asked friends how their experience with the wine was. The feedback was quite similar...

his is so good, it almost leaves me speechless and is one of the surprises in my modest drinking experience. The wine here is worth every centime and IMO can hold its own with the very greats from Bordoo. Everything is just in place here. Again, a nose to bathe in. You want to jump into the glass and wallow in it and rub it all over your body. It's really sexy! On the palate, everything is in place - but so much so! Velvety, ripe tannins, an aroma print, black cherries, tobacco, chocolate, there is a freshness, a balance like in a picture book. Everything is just perfect here and there is nothing, but also nothing to complain about. On the contrary, I want more of it - much more. And when I go back to Croatia in September of this year, I'll pack my car full of the stuff, even if I have to sacrifice a few cases of Bordeaux from my cellar to be able to afford it.
