2020 Rustenberg Cabernet Sauvignon

Had this with a sirloin steak with mushrooms and green beans. Lovely Cabernet Sauvignon, and a great paring.
As I expected, this was better than Rustenberg’s RM Nicholson I had last year, which is funny, as the RM is a grade above this one.
I had a similar experience with the Five Soldiers, which is their top flight Chardonnay, but it was beaten hands down by their basic Chardonnay.
I do rate the winery very highly. Their Sauvignon Blancs are great, both the standard one, and the Wild Ferment.

2021 Au Bon Climat Pinot Noir Santa Barbara County

A nice wine this, but not really worth the price point if you ask me. Translucent red. Upon opening, loads of cherries on the nose and some oak too. Had a small sip, rather sour. Decanted for an hour, much better, but still a lot of acidity. This wine might need another year or two to really blossom.

2018 Definition for Majestic Barolo

Same as previous tasting note. This is a great wine, perhaps not the most refined or complex Barolo, but still very good and immensely enjoyable.
I opened the bottle, and noticed it was slightly off. I think it had some oxidisation. So I took it back to Majestic Wine (a large UK wine retailer), I didn’t have the receipt anymore, but they swapped it right away.
The new bottle was excellent. Had it with mini truffle cheese raviolis. Great stuff.
This wine will benefit from an hour in the decanter.
