  • 2016 Reichsrat Von Buhl Forster Ungeheuer Riesling Großes Gewächs

    Wonderfully energizing lunch wine. Salty lemons, star fruit, grapefruit, passion fruit and a slightly herbaceous side. Firm, tense and with a vibrating acidity. With sufficient aeration it begins to open up some more. A very promising glimpse into the future of this lovely Riesling. 92+


    Herrlich enervierender Mittagswein. Salzige Zitronen, Sternfrucht, Grapefruit, Passionsfrucht und leicht kräutrig. Fest, spannungsgeladen und mit einer vibrierenden Säure ausgestattet. Mit ausreichender Belüftung legt er noch zu. Ein vielversprechender Zwischenstand. 92+

  • 1986 Château Cos d'Estournel

    Tasted blind during an event. Much more youthful than one might expect. Spicy and dark brooding nose of black currant and asian plum sauce, earthiness, tobacco, pencil shavings and some meatiness. Rather austere on the palate and not as fruity as the bouquet might suggest. Somewhat dusty and not fully resolved, yet soft tannin with fresh acidity and an overall great structure. Black and red currant, plum, cedar wood, sous bois and leather come to mind. More masculine, but quite elegant with a long spicy finish. Great mature Bordeaux.

  • 1999 Château d'Yquem

    Lunch wine with friends on a Friday afternoon.
    The 1999 d'Yquem from a demi immediately showed its stunningly beautiful charms. Enchanting notes of crème brûlée, candied quince slices, apricots, orange peel and acacia honey. Delicious, sweet and enticing with a nice acidity to match it all. Could probably do with a tad more of the latter. Still, simply mesmerizing.

    Der 1999 d'Yquem aus der Demi zeigte sofort seine umwerfend schönen Reize. Bezaubernde Noten von Crème brûlée, kandierten Quittenspalten, Aprikosen, Orangenabrieb sowie Akazienhonig. Süß und verführerisch mit einer schönen dazu harmonierenden Säure. Könnte wahrscheinlich etwas mehr vom Letzteren vertragen. Dennoch einfach köstlich.
