The wine needs a 3 hour decant plus to open up. Beautiful cab franc 16% and Merlot 44% and cab, even though not mentioned, would be the difference at 40%. On the first day the finish was a bit hot, but the second day settled down. I put a repour in the bottle after night one. So, I believe that decanting it for 3 to 4 hours is the way to go. The wine has blueberry and red fruits along with an austere middle and finish. It's very sophisticated and for those who enjoy trying something different than just the regular sweet cab then I believe you will enjoy it. This is a wine that you can certainly cellar for a while and perhaps try in 2 to 3 years. It was a pleasure to drink now. But, I think having it with food makes the wine come to life..

Wine was fruit driven tilting with more alcohol than fruit at opening. Best after 2 hours. I found the red and blue fruits silky, but mainly one dimensional. The finish was similar in the front, middle and finish end. I gave it a 91 for being somewhat boring. I did enjoy my last bottle which I had with a meal. So, drinking the wine while watching basketball without food was perhaps not the right venue. A 91 without food and a 93 with food might be more appropriate. I believe the wine can be summed up as a better version of how Josh wine appeals to the most drinkers. Drink young as it is not built for cellaring.

11/24/2021 3:24:00 AM - Greetings Jim. For some time now I have been a "Fan"of your tasting notes. I see that you are in Naples. Now that America is once again allowing Europeans and Brits into the USA (vaccinated ones, anyway!), the wife and I are headed to Naples on December 1st for about 3 months to get away from our winter's chill. While there it would be a pleasure to share an occasional bottle of something decent with like minded oenophiles. To that end I have sent you a Friend request (to you and one or two others in Naples). Would you be open to that? Cheers.
8/3/2019 7:49:00 PM - Hey Jim - got your message about your daughter in Denver. As far as volume and selection Applejack is a good selection up and down the price range you can check it out at applejack.com. Argonaut is pretty good close to downtown and they've got a chilled room with higher end stuff. Both have good prices when things are on sale and reasonable otherwise. There are some smaller boutiquey places too but those two should be good for a place to start.
12/13/2016 6:30:00 PM - Glad to know there is another Pott fan out there! They are absolutely top notch folks in my humble opinion. Some of the best in the business (from my experience at least). Cheers!
