1/27/2020 10:00:00 AM - Hey Q...good to be friends.....I haven't looked at the '16 notes yet. If memory serves I think this winemaker does this as a side project from his normal work. Maybe he just got some leftover grapes to work with in '16? Maybe they were from a different vineyard and not even Coombsville? I don't know the particulars. The '15 is very refined, very nuanced and balanced. Even feels just a little more aged than a '15, IMO. Maybe he changed his style slightly in '16, or maybe the grapes just were so good and powerful they presented more of a challenge to control the finished product, I don't know. It seems this can age quite a bit so maybe WA goes back in 5 years and upgrades their score? I know the price has gone up quite a bit so it'll be interesting to see where it ends. Obviously people can't keep paying these crazy inflated prices forever.

1/24/2020 9:17:00 AM - Hi Q thanks for reaching out.....My review was for the '15 vintage, I have never tasted the '16...but given that it ('16) was a stupendous vintage I can't see any reason why it wouldn't have been as good if not better than the '15 that I had. Hope this helps....Mark
