Huge, deep purple, impossible to see through. The nose has powerful dark fruit, but also some hints of vegetable. The palate was dense cherry and blackberry, with deep, strong tannins. Totally mouth filling, the (very very long) finish included lovely spice and black pepper. It took a long time in the decanter to truly open up. The tannins were still surprisingly firm and youthful, and this wine might benefit from another three years plus. Highly, highly recommended.

A pretty, clear ruby, this wine packs more fruit than the color suggests. The nose and palate are loaded with bright fresh fruit, with cranberry, raspberry, and some sour cherry giving way to a hint of lingering sweetness and berry. It finishes clean. Just a hint of earth and vegetable reminds me that this is old world. Solid for the price - goes well with red sauces or richly flavored poultry.

Very, very tasty. Sporting a glass filling opaque purple and a nose of dark fruit and pie, this wine leaves its signature on your lips, teeth and tongue. The taste is straight-up grape and currant jelly, with a voluptuous body to smooth over the alcoholic guns it's packing. Not what I'd call sophisticated (certainly not the kind of girl to bring home to the folks), but so much fun! The sweet, long finish kept me coming back for more. Intense even for steak, if you're going to pair it, I'd recommend a spicy chili or rich lamb stew.
