Nice gold straw color in glass. Nose of crushed slate, lime zest, pear, and honeysuckle. In the mouth, lots of slate, lime peel, some asian pear. Mouth watering acidity, nice wine. Body dances between kabinett/spatlese, starting out light and precise, fleshing out in the mid palate, and finishing with laser precision.

Aromas of cassis, pencil lead, black cherry, cocoa. Tastes of cassis, mocha, and cedar. Mouth watering acidity and well integrated tannins. Pretty tasty stuff, drink up.

The ullage was at high fill and bottle appeared to be in great condition. After wrestling the cork out and decanting for sediment, we were immediately encouraged. Great garnet color and bright fruit on the nose. In the glass the color was garnet to orange-brick at the edge. On the nose, bright red-fruit, floral, menthol and a slight yeast aroma. Pretty light in the mouth, more like a Pinot Noir at this point, but nice cherry, raspberry, smoke, with licorice on the back end, and a tart finish. Great acidity and some tannins still kicking around hitting the back of the mouth.
