Grassy, lemony, floral, and maybe even kerosene on the nose. Fresh figs and green olives, flint and chalk, toasted nuts. Pleasantly mouth-puckering acidity, and a linear, ethereal texture I have admired in other Savennières. Delicious and charming wine.

Tasted alongside the Clos de la Bergerie of the same vintage. Rich yellow gold. The nose is porky with a whiff of wet straw. A bit of haze and a thin layer of small bubbles that came to rest at the bottom of the glass, and seemed later to impart the slightest sensation of effervescence, which disappeared eventually. Ripe, botrytized fruit and honey (much less so than the Clos de la Bergerie) and a persistent, not-offensive note of cigarette smoke. Slight warm gaminess reminiscent of the other wine. Juicy Granny Smith apple and ripe/unripe mango. Beautiful expansive texture and a long finish.

Tasted alongside the Vieux Clos of the same vintage. Rich gold color with slight haze. Aromas of sopressata and fresh sheep's milk cheese, honey, and with the botrytized character and fruit profile (mango, green apple, and lemon) of a Sauternes. The taste reveals damp earth and stone, sea salt, butter, and a transfixing, linear texture. The most pleasing acidity and a long finish. Two glasses each got the husband and I almost supernaturally buzzed.
