i have had at 6 bottles of the case i purchased. although i am die hard follower of the cain five wines, i have found their syrah to be somewhat just okay. it has nice depth and color, but compared to the other cal syrahs out there for the same price-point, ie. copain, alban, cayuse (washington) and a host of others, i felt this was just okay. the aroma of berries and graphite is great , but the finish is just not one you wold expect from an estate label such as cain. none the less- i think it is good syrah.. just not a kongsgaard or a pax or a sine qua non.. hence the price..

thought this was an amazing merlot from california. especially as old as a 2001 vintage where cal is not known for the longevity of their wines. especially merlot. it had full fruit , and a leather bacon fat smell with a port like after taste that lingered for a while. i feel this wine is drinking perfect now , and can only guess that it will last for at least 5 years more. perfect now..
