  • 2015 Azienda Agricola Perazzeta Sangiovese Montecucco Terre dei Bocci

My last bottle of six that were purchased at K&L auction.

Let rest upright for 8 months. Totally clear I could only decant all but 6oz.

Nose was faint, but dusty dry fig, plum, hints of cherry.

Palate revealed completely dry juice, soft and laden with light tobacco, hints of cured meats, cherry, elderberry.

    Excellent wine.

After 30 minutes showed smoke, cured meats, elegantly soft and very interesting with building length.

Paired with Aussie rack of lamb it brought out more tobacco. It tasted like light cigar soaked in hibiscus tea with dry cherry and elderberry accompaniment.

Most of its fruit had dropped out and now was a delish dry juice to tell a story of meats, tobacco, smoke and hints of garden.

I felt like I were Theodoric, eating the most excellent meat, fingers grasping the bone, sipping this delicate but flavorful juice, bringing me joy to see my children wrestling with our hounds.

  • 2016 Domaine Jamet Syrah Vin de Pays des Collines Rhodaniennes

    OMG good!
    What would Jesus drink? THIS!

Crazy nose of crushed rocks, cured meats, horse's ass, fresh greenhouse garden smells, and lots of funk!

Palate is light and a bit wimpy, but delish and real.

    Nose is amazing!
I keep my nose in it.

    Palate sports lots of stems.
Great vegetal energy with meats, stones and yum!

  • 2010 Domaine Auguste Clape Le Vin des Amis

Bought at auction in a lot. This was my only bottle. I've had plenty of Vin des Amis, but never the 2010. This was something special! I was blown away!

I had this resting upright for 6 months.
    Cork was in excellent condition.
The bottle had black plaque painted to one side of of the bottle from storage fallout.
Decanted off fine smoke sediment that left 6oz in bottle.

Color showed no signs of bricking, was beautiful rose to ruby to opaque purple.

Nose was of amazing meats and blood with some flowers.

Palate held energy! It was light, loaded with bloody meats, but the spices kicked in on the mid and soared at the back and finished with crazy galaxy of stars.
Perfectly light at 12.5%, not at all heavy, but had power. The length was incredible! Those stars and spices were joyously dancing all over my mouth for a minute.
There was tobacco, touches of anise, garrigue, hot hill herbs, wild herbs, maybe sage, hints of wild lavender, goudron, but the cured meats were absolutely delish!

Paired with pan-seared ribeye blue was a perfect combination, though I would love to drink this solo.

How could a wine get any better!?

9/27/2023 4:34:00 AM - Welcome aboard my crazy train! Hope you enjoy the ride. What got you to get on board, if I may ask? I am guessing some of the Barolo notes I have done? I like your profile notes by the way.
