  • 2003 Tenuta San Giorgio Piave Maserada Sul Piave

    This was consumed alone with a beef ravioli in tomato sauce and a pepperoni pizza. Off the bat, the cork had risen about half an inch so I wasn't expecting much and had a standby bottle ready. On opening, there were no off scents apparent, and in fact i detected a heavy scent of berry jam. The wine although clear, was not a very deep red but had this dull quality to it although it was quite clear. It had a well rounded flavor about it, just the slightest hint of tannins and more of a pleasant combination of alcohol, not of the astringent nature coupled with some gentle berry flavors. Clean finish and no off flavors of any kind. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

  • 2005 Angove Cabernet-Shiraz Butterfly Ridge

    Turning a cap to open a bottle of wine immediately creates an impression that one were not to expect much from this choice. This one did not disappoint in fact, but did not impress either. All the pre requisite expectations were met, a very slight scent of wood and berries, healthy fruit flavors more of raisins and plums but tannins apparent on the finish although they did not stay on the palate too long but long enough to wash out the heavy flavors of the callos madrileno we had with it. Its my first rating so I would give almost good but surely better than average.

  • 2006 Georges Dubœuf Beaujolais Nouveau

    When we removed the foil, evidence ofwine leaking through onto the top and subsequently when opened, that corky yeasty smell pervaded the room. As we swirled into the glass, there was nothing more that could be done. Unfair to rate what could have been a great drinking wine
