Popped cork and poured. Drinking a de Negoce Lot 124 2018 Merlot (Freemark's Stagecoach) along with this shared between 2 drinkers. 1st glass each: pours a dark ruby color, slight touch of browning at rim. Nose has some red fruits and spice. 1st taste, similar flavors on nose and somewhat "simple" Cabernet flavors. Drank over 20 minutes. Poured a 2nd glass, this pour was darker (I know??), smells now of cassis, leather, cigar box. More complexity showed in 2nd glass, where I picked up slight bell pepper, cassis, dark cherry flavors. Poured a glass of 2018 Merlot. The malo was pushed way harder on this wine- more buttery in flavor vs this Dunn. Nice wine made by a legend too. Went BACK to this Dunn for final pour. WOW. This wine popped after 1.5 hours. Strong cigar box on nose, like the 2nd glass, but on steroids. At almost 25 years, this wine is still elegant. yet ethereal in it's delivery. Paid a ridiculous price for this from WineBid.com back in 2008 recession- like $35. Those were the days.

Double decanted back into bottle 10 min before serving. Nice dark color and bouquet off decanter. Poured next to a same vintage Xavier La Reserve CdP. This wine is more aromatic than that CdP, really wonderful dark fruit, tannins and excellent acidity that provides a long, balanced finish. Try this with some grilled baby back ribs for a nice treat. This needs food. Should hold up for another couple years at least. No drop off in last glass.

Decanted back into bottle 30 mins prior to steak dinner. Smell from decanter was some BDX funk and leather- love it. In glass, poured dark red nearly no browning at rim. Nose and flavors of leather, turned earth mixed with dark plums with chocolate. Runs a line of Old School Bordeaux and a touch modern style- which makes this wine interesting. Wife kept her glass empty fast after each pour. She loved it too. From first glass to last glass 3 hours later, this wine held up just fine. Should be good for another 2-3 years at least. Drinks wonderful now, especially with food.
