There is no question in my mind that 010 is a superstar vintage in the Southern Rhone region and this wonderful expression of Gigondas from Saurel's Saint Damien merely confirms what many are saying. This is my first tasting of La Louisiane although I have been consuming the Les Souteyrades 'en masse' and I find the differences to be minute. If Grenache + Mourvedre is to your liking then you would be hard pressed to find anything as good as this in the under 30 € range. Bravo!

It was a pleasure to drink with hints of lychees and clotted cream. Time in the cellar has brought this into a wonderful place. Miani is Miani!

Very, very hard to get the G Max where I am and then there are the dollars, although I would willingly part with the cash for the experience, I just wouldn't be able to do it regularly! I would like to see German Riesling regain the status I think it deserves - on the same level as the best Chablis, White Burgundy.
