I’ve not been writing tasting notes for quite a while, but I thought it’ll be quite a shame not to write about this one. Popped it, quick whiff and taste and I told myself “Ho ho! The guys are going to love this!”. The wine was then decanted for 1 hour and served blind. There wasn’t any accurate guesses on this wine. Guesses ranged from 2nd growth, 1st growth left bank, Italian IGT, etc and no one guessed it to be in the 70s. Most thought it was much younger. I was also trying to confuse the guys by suggesting this may be a Haut Brion, but they didn’t fall for it.. “no.. it’s too sweet”. To be fair, this wine looks and taste much younger that a 70s wine. Dark red in color with a strong and brooding nose of dark fruits. It still has great structure on the palate and can last easily for many more years. The CT tasting notes of others on this wine is pretty spot-on, so I won’t elaborate further. A great wine. And if I had to describe this wine as woman, she’ll be Cher. Yeah, so I know she’s old right? But just look at her on the MTV! She freaking 65, but wearing as much clothes as Britney Spears! But unlike Britney, Cher has substance. Compared to her, Britney is a Chateau Cardboard! Cher Cher Cher.. I know you’re very old, but you still so sexy.. Drinking this wine is like... Making love to Cher. Can you imagine? Can you? Tenderly kissing that flawlessly botoxed face, staring into those large eyes that you could lose your soul into and then making sweet sweet love to that pair of... while she sighs and sings softly into your ears in that sexy husky voice "oohh if i could turn back time.. if i could find a way.." (Ijusthadthestrangesterrection.jpg).. oh dear..

this wine reminds me of the prettiest tavern girl i've even seen in my life. she is holding 4 mugs of beer in each hand, sashaying left and right with admirable dexterity to avoid the boisterous customers trying to cope a feel of that ass. oh my god is she pretty. long blonde hair and that killer smile that would drive a man to write kindergarten love letters to her and commit suicide thereafter. she came to me, plonked down a mug and said "ten dollars fifty. happy hour ends at nine" and smiles oh so sweetly. "are you new here?", "yah, name's cecilia. just started last week" she replied. i'm counting the money in my wallet thinking "i have to talk to her again. do i have enough money to buy a few more? just to talk to her again?". "there ya go" i went, giving her a five dollar tip. "dammit. i cant afford doing this on my lousy salary!" i thought. " and every one here is thinking of sleeping with her. i have to make her notice me.. if only i could be so lucky to see what's underneath that dress.. just a glimpse.. oh gawd yes!" she took the money and left as abruptly as she came.. "well, i have money for a few more pints of beer. maybe i should think of something interesting to talk to her the next time she comes over.. but what dammit? what? nice glutes. you work out on the stair master often? argghh! what?". in the end, i just drank my beer and left the tarvern alone, hating myself.

i hope this tasting note is really helpful to the purchase of your unico!

i not write tasting notes anymore, but i made a mental note to write this while drinking the 05 y'day.. perhaps this 05 reserve was a little misunderstood and underrated since the time i last drank it....

the bottle shop i frequent, the girl that works there hadnt drunk a reserve or lalande before, so i thought i should let her try... i was also itching for a reserve or lalande since the 98 lalande i drunk last week was v nice... the first time i drank the 05 reserve, it was undecanted and the experience was underwhelming... this time round, i guesstimated and asked her to decant for 6 hrs.. but after 6 hrs, it's still not ready (still v acidic and a muddled nose), so decant another 2+ hrs while drinking supposedly the best merlot in australia in 2006, a gold medal winner from blue pyrenees (not that fantastic).. so okay, after 8-9hrs decanting the reserve, it's drinkable.. slightly spicy pauillac nose with softer dark fruits typical of lalande.. sweet and feminine like a woman (like that one on the bottle)... the acid is less harsh and the lenght is not bad at all... after another 2 hrs, the nose seems to be going to the bread-soaked-in-water direction... anyway, at the end of the bottle, i've come to the conculsion that perhaps this 05 reserve is underestimated and underated initially by me and others in thier TN ratings.. so 87-88 pts, and perhaps higher in 5-7 yrs... be patient and the lady will reward you.. as for qpr..wait for sale..
