Dream wine: The next bottle to be opened!
“Accept what life offers you and try to drink from every cup. All wines should be tasted; some should only be sipped, but with others, drink the whole bottle.”
― Paulo Coelho, Brida
I only write notes on wines that instil in me a desire to consume more of them. Life's too short. ;)
2011 Best's Great Western Shiraz Bin No 1

Inky pastille fruits and olive tapenade, mulberry laced with a dash of menthol, and some complex, well-integrated woody savouriness flow along to a long, cool finish. Vibrant and retaining elements of primary fruit, I can see this still being attractive for another 5 years.

2004 Henschke Shiraz Vineyard Selection Tappa Pass

Beautiful stage of life, integrated, some bright fresh blueberry highlights and cassis aroma's remain, a lick of mint that's counteracted by an autumnal character on the palate. A crackle of acidity keeps it lively and draws out for a pronounced finish. Very good.

2012 Penfolds Shiraz Bin 128

Dark unforgiving leather, eucalypt with a vegetal nose. Raspberry peaking through.
Mint, blackcurrant, vanilla, barely there tannins and some white pepper to finish. The palate is soft, plush, yet there is a hardness to it, not much room to evolve beyond this stage. Drink now.
