  • 2015 Château Cantemerle

Exactly as advertised. Classic, good quality medium bodied left bank bordeaux, very enjoyable and good reflection of the terroir, but not overwhelming in any way. Should improve with 5+ years of age.

Deep ruby color with just the tiniest early hints of age.

Fairly limited aroma which is all fruit - blueberry, with a little bit of wood.

Medium+ acid and fairly high tannins that coat the lips and tongue. Grippy, but not harsh. Medium body and alcohol. Savory blackcurrant flavor, some mint, a little bit of earth, leather and chocolate, esp on the finish.

  • 2015 Viñas del Regajal Galia 'Le Dean'

    Good quality but rather aggressive

Not a massive aroma but full of savoury flavour. Slightly unripe blackberry, artichoke, mint, cedar and flint. Pretty high acid, full body, fairly big and firm tannins.

Definitely best left to breathe and enjoy with food.

  • 2004 Marc Colin et Fils Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Caillerets

This is a very good aged Chassagne Montrachet and for the price superb. The fruit flavors have lost a bit of intensity but are complemented by delicious tertiary characteristics with enough acid to keep this wine drinking well for a while yet.

It’s a medium gold color, looks weighty.

The nose is straw and honeysuckle, a little nuttiness, a little cur grass. Elegant but not super intense.

Prety high acid and generous alcohol give this wine a full bodied mouthfeel and a lot of structure. The flavor is soft, ripe pear with a hint of lemon, straw, a bit of the grassiness, and then quite a long finish where some nuttiness, petroleum and caramel come into play. A bit of a hole in the mid palate on the finish, but generally really enjoyable.
