Decanted 3 hours before hand. Deep ruby in colour, this has an intense but balanced and attractive nose of ripe blue and black fruit, still fresh at 15 years of age. The palate was somewhat savoury, with refreshing acidity and a black and blue fruit profile. Intense but not heavy, a hybrid between Napa and European in style, perhaps more to the European side. Very impressive.

Opened and decanted 3 hours before dinner. The wine was medium ruby in colour and still very youthful. The nose revealed the wine’s age with light tertiary mushroom aroma and a mix of cool red fruit. The palate was fresh with hints of forest floor, refreshing acidity, red berry fruit, good intensity, and a medium length finish. A very good red burgundy of balance and subtle power, from a producer renowned for long living wines. This lives up to expectations. 13.5% alcohol.

Deep golden in colour, the bouquet was an addictive mix of brioche, butter, freshly baked bread, and ripe yellow fruit. The wine was rich but not heavy, with fine light mousse, and the complex palate very much confirming the nose with balanced intensity and a long finish. So good we opened another bottle at the end of the evening! Already very enjoyable, but should no doubt last another decade at least. 12% alcohol.
