Translucent garnet with very slight bricking at the edge.
A bit of ginger/allspice/cinnamon element, pinot funk, dark red fruits, cranberries, and a prominent herbal element on the nose.
Dark red fruit, cranberries, with a bit of tannic aftertaste.
For me, this wine was the paragon for the unpleasant "green meanies" in 2004 burgundy. The first bottles I tried were pretty uniformly bad. It has transformed. Not great, the herbal element on the nose does not appear to be something that will ever fully dissipate, or fully harmonize. The palate is nowhere near what a Dujac Clos de La Roche should be. However, the wine has gone from undrinkable to "a pleasant dinner companion" [to quote the Burghound]. While I agree that Dujac Clos de La Roche should be far more than merely a "pleasant dinner companion," sunk costs will make you take what you can get.

Very light brick colored.
Raisins, leather, prunes on the nose. A little chemically/bandaid action as well.
Raisins, figs on the palate.
Not sure whether to classify as "over the hill," "oxidized," or just bad. Any way you slice it, this bottle was unpleasant.
FWIW, the bottle was bought on release and properly stored since then. YMMV?
