  • 2002 Domaine Trapet Chambertin

The nose was very elegant with a mix of red fruits, crushed leaves, spice and light oak. On the palate, the red fruits is perhaps more muted, although over the course of 2 hours, the fruit comes through a bit more. Overall a nice mix of sous bois, precise minerality, balanced acidity with some red fruit and cherries to support. Drinking very well now and for a 19 year old wine, still quite a bit of power and concentration, but with a velvet like delivery

  • 2010 Domaine Henri Gouges Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru Les Pruliers

Served in Conterno glasses, decanted for 1 hour

Gamey, dried leaves and a waft of oak spice on the nose. Not elegant, but very enticing. On the palate the wine is super concentrated still and showing a lot of red fruit vibrancy and acidity. Long finish with the tannins starting to soften. Not the most complex of wines, but it's delivering a lot of drinking pleasure

This is drinking well now and probably has a long life ahead.

  • 2014 Domaine Bertheau (Pierre et François) Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Charmes

Poured via Coravin + aerator, served in Conterno glass

Elegant notes of cherries, raspberries and violets on the nose with a hint of spice and oak as the wine opened up. On the palate the wine delivers on all fronts. Well balanced with crisp red fruits (frozen strawberries, but less sweet?) and sour cherries delivering a dose of sweetness and acidity, nice minerality on the middle before spice and sandalwood enter the frame at the end. Long finish that lingers. Starting to develop tertiary flavors, drinking well now, but there's probably upside from here over the next few years

Great value compared to other 1er Cru wines, step up from the Bertheau 1er Cru bottling albeit different style
